Okay, so, we've said it before, and we shall repeat: We just love doing the BQT at Oberon in Harvard Square. It's been several years of hauling my carcass up to Boston, but it's worth it, to give the state of Massachusetts its greatest live trivia experience month in and month out. If you've never witnessed it yourself, you have yet another chance soon: Monday, March 10, 8pm, with magically free admission (not the case in any other BQT city, by the by).
This one is going to be a humdinger of a show: Our video puzzle is called "The Shadow Knows…Do You?," a fantastic-looking history game that, truth be told, is on the easy side (but as usual, it's more about the fun). The audio round is "Never Break the Lyrical Chain" (part of our "Never Break the Chain" series), plus we have "The Movie Quote Thesaurus," "Already Canceled!" and the world's greatest trivia questions on a grab bag of topics you're actually interested in. (In other words, nothing about particle physics.)
And prizes! As always, the $200 cash jackpot (spread around, with $100 for the first-place squad); tickets to Oberon's own weekly disco-tacular spectaculathon, The Donkey Show; and passes to Boston's most fun pop-culture walking tours, On Location Tours. And joining the haul this time: We have passes to another fine, nigh-indescribable Oberon event, Touch Performance Art's AcousticaElectronica.
As they put it…
"AcousticaElectronica is a mind-blowing event that blends elements of electronic and classical music, dance, circus arts and immersive theatre with the infectious energy of the contemporary nightclub. Dancers, symphonies, aerialists, operas, and live musicians all happen around every inch of the space to keep the audience guessing at every turn. AcousticaElectronica sends the audience on a tantalizing voyage filled with sensual and emotional discoveries. A place full of secrets and surprises, rewarding the curiosity of those willing to lose themselves in a night of dream, abandon, and ecstasy… Do you dare enter?"
