And here we go, into 2014. Hey, did you see this? There's an "official" list of New York City's top live trivia events of 2013, and the Big Quiz Thing made the list!
Snicker, snicker. (Seriously, it would be nice if there were a blog/magazine/website that had the authority to create such a list for real, but alas, the media continues to cover trivia entertainment with the same novelty articles.)
Regardless, '13 was a killer year for us, and we launch proudly into '14 this Tuesday, at our still-newish home of SubCulture. Five more rounds of the world's finest live trivia excitement, hosted by TV stars Quizmaster Noah and EdP, with multimedia fun including "Already Canceled!," "Damn You, Autocorrect," and tons more. The video puzzle is still in the works, but prep yourselves for something concerning great photos from history. Because you know, stuff happened.
This was actually a really exclusive gay bar
Of course, there's the Lightning Round, Smart-Ass Points, the Text Message Challenge, the buzzertastic Three-Way Finale, and other surprises. (Speaking of surprises, minimize the bad ones by picking up the Not-So-Secret Secret Clue Tuesday morning, here or on FB or Twitter.) The audio round is all wrapped up: "Never Break the Lyrical Chain." Part three in our "Never Break the Chain" series; we did "The Song Title Chain" (“I Feel It All” /“All I Want Is You”/“You Might Think”/etc.) and "The Rhyming Chain" (“Hungry Like the Wolf” -- Duran Duran/“Piano Man” -- Billy Joel/“Dig Your Own Hole” – The Chemical Brothers/etc.). Now it's "The Lyrical Chain": We play a song clip, cutting it off immediately before a specific lyric. That lyric is the title of the following song clip. And so on. Name the song titles and the artists, naturally. Oh yeah, we're in it to win it, trivia nerds.
And that takes us to prizes! The $200 cash jackpot lives in, and some of our old prize partner friends will be making the scene: Disaster! The Musical, Pogo Events, The Accidental Pervert, iLuminate, Quiet Events, and SubCulture itself. Nice. Plus, joining the gang…
All that and more this Tuesday: Begin the year in the most trivially way possible. Tuesday, January 7, 7:30pm, SubCulture (45 Bleecker Street). Savor the good times.
