Okay, so, October is in full swing, our culture is consumed with Halloween-mania, and we at the Big Quiz Thing World Headquarters are prepping for the seasonal joy that will be our Spooktastical Halloween Trivia-tacular. Making our return to one of our favorite NYC venues, Le Poisson Rouge, we’ll be delighting the masses with a Samhain-themed edition of the city’s only trivia game show, Tuesday night, October 29. Prep yourselves for a nifty variant on everyone’s favorite BQT movie puzzle, “The Bipolar Movie Challenge,” with something called “Truly Terrifying Movies.” When we say truly, we mean truly. The other multimedia puzzles are TBD, but plan on anything and everything re: costumes, candy, critters, et cetera.
Of course, since this is a special event, we have some extra-delightful fun stuff in store. Since it was such a hit at our Sneak Preview TV party last July, we’re bringing back the preshow trivia-packed cocktail hour (though, yeah, this one is just a half hour)—EdP and I will be roaming the crowd, microphones in hand, querying anyone who volunteers with bonus Halloween-themed questions, for bonus Halloween-themed prizes. (Expect the kind of Halloween-store junk that your parents would never buy you.) Also part of the festivities: a live magic performance—magic!—from Tenth Anniversary Marathon guest performer The Great Dubini.
And between rounds of the game, expect bonus entertainment with vintage scary TV commercials, creepy movie trailers, and even a new, seasonally appropriate short film, directed by a couple friends of the BQT and featuring a cameo appearance by your favorite quizmaster. (Um, that’s me, duh.)
And prizes! Look at what I found?
Yes, for those of you tired of all those incomplete Chucky collections. And that's just the very tip of the iceberg, my compatriots. Many of our favorite prize-partner friends have signed on for this bonanza. Score big at this show, and you can drink enough beer to become your own version of a lycanthrope thanks to Brooklyn Brewery…
…or calm your fear of the dark by enjoying a classic midnight snack courtesy of Milk & Cookies Bakery…
…or perhaps you’d like to explore your city like a modern-day Indiana Jones with Pogo Events…
…how about thrilling to the life-and-death danger (and comedy) of the Off Broadway musical Disaster!?
And Le Poisson Rouge itself is contributing: a membership, good for free admission to a panoply of excellent performances, plus more perks at one of New York City's most beautiful—and best curated—live entertainment venues.
More on the way…including one especially big one. Stay tuned; better yet, stop tuning and buy your tickets already. Boo!
