Tomorrow night! It's our Sneak Preview TV Screening and NYC Quiz, at the truly opulent Highline Ballroom, introducing the world to the new television game-show phenomenon for the ages, The Big Quiz Thing (premiering this Sunday on NYC Life). We have an insane amount of fun planned, and I wanted to give you all the final details…
—The doors open at 6 for our "cocktail hour" (actually 90 minutes, but hey, come on). Arrive early, relax, have a drink—we're going to have a couple of custom quiz-themed drinks (one boozy, one virgin), courtesy professional mixologist Lynnette Marrero—and thrill to some early NYC-themed trivia. The plan: I'll wander the crowd with a wireless mike and a trusty assistant (courtesy the fantastic team at our production partners Second Bolt) and anyone who wants to try their luck at a question can win a small but still awesome prize. I mean, seriously, someone's going to win these:
—At 7:30, the show proper begins with a performance from the #BQTonTV guest comedy stars The New York Neo-Futurists. I'm not sure exactly what they have planned, but these folks knocked it out of the park while we were taping the show, and they are true comedy pros, so prepare for some genuine A-game.
—After that, we start the quiz itself: totally New York City themed (just like the TV show). Those of you who are old BQT live-show fans will find that we're doing a slightly tweaked formula, more in the spirit of what you'll see on TV. But rest assured, everyone gets to play, still the world's greatest trivia questions, still multimedia delights on all topics, provided they're relevant to the greatest city on earth.
And, of course, as we've been screaming about in this space the past weeks, the prize haul is truly epic—everything from a private roller-skating party to a box of foie gras doughnuts. And this just in: A legend has signed on to the prize-partner legion, The American Museum of Natural History! That's right—passes every preteen New Yorker's favorite cultural institution. We're planning to really spread the love with these prizes, to make an effort to give some goodies to a lot more than just the top teams (though they will score big-time, naturally).
