Free subscriptions to Time Out New York
And yes, as some of you might be aware, I am closely affiliated with this fine publication: I've been the chief copy editor for going on ten years, the last several part-time as I've devoted more energy to the multiheaded BQT hydra. (And if you're wondering, my favorite quick definition for "copy editor" is "hardcore proofreader.") TONY is a great place to work—intense, engaging, staffed with awesome people, and keeping me plugged into everything happening in my beautiful city. Over the years, various employees have been exceedingly generous to my other avocation, lending much ink and many pixels to various BQT PR campaigns; I could chalk it up to an employee perk, but c'mon, the Big Quiz Thing is awesome, it earns it.
I've gotten a lot of back-pats around the office for bringing the BQT to TV—like I say, awesome people—and they're really stepping up in support. The latest promo is on the TONY blog, they ran the above ad to solicit for TV contestants, and they're joining the frankly massive prize haul with a to-be-determined number of free subscriptions. Still the authoritative voice on what's worth experiencing in NYC, Time Out is managing to thrive in these changing times for magazines, and no NYC apartment is complete without a few copies on the coffee table.
I was especially proud of this cover.timeout.com/newyork—the last few years, we've succeeded in remaking that site from "eh, it'll do" to "indispensable"—and get your tickets to the Highline event post-haste.
