It is nigh, my friends: The Summer of the Big Quiz Thing is upon us. In addition to our regular events in multiple cities, our near-constant parade of corporate and private quiz events, and our fabulous Big '90s Quiz Thing in Brooklyn on June 13 (complete with live band karaoke), we're coming to that box of tubes and wires in your apartment. (And your information-processing machine as well.) The Big Quiz Thing TV show—a multimedia team-quiz game show on all things New York City related, featuring the city's top trivia genius talent and special guest stars, and hosted by your BQT pals Quizmaster Noah and EdP—is debuting in July on the NYC Life network (channel 25 with or without cable, plus Video on Demand at nyc.gov/vod). Trivial times demand trivial trivia, and we shall provide.
And to celebrate, we're presenting what will unquestionably be New York's live quiz highlight of the summer: a Sneak Preview TV Screening Party and Quiz, Tuesday, July 9, at the palatial Highline Ballroom (site of our NYC Clash of the Trivia Champions and Ladies' Night events). Get this: We'll be screening clips from the show (debuting the following Sunday, the 14th; your quizmaster's birthday, it turns out), plus staging a full multimedia BQT team quiz event, centering on that most holy of topics, the City of New York. Tremendous prizes at stake, of course, including Time Out New York, The Brooklyn Museum, The Actors Fund, Birch Coffee, and plenty others to come.
Plus, a couple of bonuses: As part of the #BQTonTV format, we recruited one of the city's premier improv groups, The New York Neo-Futurists, and they'll be making an appearance at the Highline for a special live performance. And feel free to come early—the show proper begins at 7:30, but at 6 we're beginning the cocktail hour, packed with bonus trivia (and prizes).
It all happens Tuesday, July 9, at the Highline Ballroom in Chelsea. Discount tickets are available now at the Highline's website, and get more details here. And in the coming weeks, as NYC Media rolls out its own promo campaign, we'll be pelting you with more previews and behind-the-scenes footage. You will not be able to escape this show, but I guarantee you will not want to.
