NYC quiz preview: Monday, Apr 15

Your taxes will be all paid (right?), it'll be Monday night: Time to party like the geek you oh-so-confidently know you are. The NYC edition of the BQT returns to Monday this month: the 15th, at our current home of The Cutting Room (remember: don't eat dinner first, since there's a minimum and a kick-booty kitchen).

We have a honey of a show planned for y'all. Video puzzle: A new edition of an old favorite, "Public Zoo." It's that wacky-animals-in-random-cities thing, testing your knowledge of two different -ys (zoolog and geograph). An example from times past…

For your audio quizzing pleasure, it'll be "Deutsch/Nicht Deutsch." I will say that while actual German knowledge is far from mandatory, it did prove to be useful to some teams at last Monday's Boston BQT. So consider bringing that acquaintance who did a semester abroad in Munich.

Plus: "What's the Title of That Song I'm Sick Of?," "Who Are You? (And Whatcha Got Cookin'?)," the Text Message Challenge, the Lightning Round, the Buzzertastic Three-Way Finale, and more trivia nirvana.

And, as always at the CR, a grade-A opening act: Rejoining us after her appearance at our Tenth Anniversary Marathon, the queen of the NY Funny Songs Festival (and recently featured in The New York Times for riding into her wedding on the back of a unicorn), Ms. Jessica Delfino…

Jessica is very funny, very talented, very dirty (fair warning), and unstoppable: She's quickly achieving serious fame, good and bad—the president of the Catholic League once declared that she "provides ammunition" to Muslim terrorists by "harboring a depraved understanding of liberty." Now that's entertainment. Her NY Funny Songs Fest runs May 30 to June 2, and she's doing a little warming up preshow on 4/15.

And yes, prizes. The $200 grand jackpot is in full effect, and some old prize friends are joining us as well: Returning from last month are our pals at Second Stage Theatre, with more passes to this June's production of an original reality-TV-themed musical, Nobody Loves You.
