L.A. quiz preview: Sunday, Jan 27

We're just a few days away till the first Los Angeles BQT of '13, at Busby's East. Hosted by Mr. Pretty Boy Quizmaster, Daniel Halden, with a fresh batch of our primo video puzzle, "The Bipolar Movie Challenge," and oodles more of the world's greatest quiz action. It's the reason you moved to California, of course.

Important note: We're starting at the special time of 8pm—a little later than usual, since the SAG Awards happen earlier that day and we're totally connected in Hollywood. Fear not, we're back to 7:30pm in February (the 17th, as we resume our third-Sunday schedule).

Perhaps the country's premier live storytelling event, The Moth is nigh legendary at this point. Like the BQT, it began in NYC and expanded to events nationwide, including semiregular StorySlams in Los Angeles, and we got a couple of primo tickets to a future event up for grabs. (BTW, I participated in the Moth once. Came in second place, never went back. That's a mike-drop move in the quizmaster world.)

Every month at improv temple iO West, a bunch of especially nerdy improvisers (nah, too easy) do a stage adaption of a staple of the graphic novel or anime world. And on February 23, it's that goretastic little-indie-comic-that-could, The Walking Dead. There are gifts and prizes, drink specials, all that stuff you love—and we're giving away a whopping six tickets.
