The rumors are, like, totally true: When we return to our new NYC home of The Cutting Room—Tuesday, February 5—we'll be busting out the very first Big '80s Quiz Thing. Yes, New York's favorite live game show remembers the decade that refuses to be forgotten, with five rounds of the world's greatest live trivia, covering the who, what, where, and maybe a little why of 30 years into the past (jeez, really?).
We got some nifty prizes—including more passes to last week's sponsor the Totally Tubular Time Machine, goodies from old friends Brooklyn Brewery and Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store, and plenty more in the works (I have a Boy George documentary DVD that I've been itching to give away). We got our trademark multimedia delights with an apropos decade focus—like "'80s Movie Quotes: All Chopped Up!" (count on some John Hughes, natch), "'80s TV Themes: In Reverse!" (I plan to dig into some Saturday-morning memories) and, um, something called "Ronald Reagan Had a Filthy Mouth" (maybe he did, but he didn't remember). And, of course, we have the greatest trivia questions anywhere, including the Lightning Round, the Text Message Challenge, and oodles more. Fun, fun, and girls just want to have fun, of course (some boys too).
The Human Karaoke Experience—to join us onstage, and more to the point, join you onstage. For a little while preshow, and between rounds, HKE will welcome some lucky audience members to climb up onstage and sing along to a selection from their list of more than 140 1980s pop classics. (I'll post the full list here soon, but it alphabetically starts with "All Out of Love" and ends with "You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’ "). Awesome, right?
More details are coming soon; stay tuned to the BQT on Facespace and Twittup to hear more, naturally. It's Tuesday, February 5: Tickets are available now, so plan ahead.
