Oh, December, as our culture is consumed by varying levels of holiness ("War on Christmas," my ass). It's also the month of our final show for the time being in Brooklyn, at Littlefield (as we prepare for our triumphant Manhattan return—January 8 at the Cutting Room!). The time seemed right for something just a little bit different: How about a Christmahanukwanzaayear Spectacular?
We'll be wrapping up the year in seasonally appropriate style: Another killer edition of New York's only source for live quiz action, with a special holiday bent—and yes, we're including the holidays, from Christmas to Xmas. Plus, a fond look back on 2012, especially in our video puzzle, "The Year in Manipulative Movie Trailers." Add to that "Famous Santas I Have Known," "Something About New Year's," "Holiday Music—One Word at a Time" (an excellent audio round we previewed at last weekend's Boston edition of our Tenth Anniversary Quiz Marathon), and "Hanukkah or Kwanzaa?" Plus, a fairly exciting game-oriented surprise, not to mention the return of erstwhile BQT sidekick and primo stand-up comedian, Claudia Cogan.
Claudia's back from L.A. for the month, and we've snagged her not only to be the Christmahanukwanzaayear opening act, but also to pitch in with prep work for the BQT TV show (yes, it is a real thing; stay tuned, literally).
And prizes, prizes, prizes: Since we're closing out our Brooklyn stint, it'll be our last night (for now) benefiting from the awesome generosity of the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Brewery. Thumbs Cookies is also still on board, and hey—$200 grand prize, as always. Plus some more cool stuff; doing a little end-of-year cleaning-out of my prize closet, got tons of sweet books to throw your way.
It's this Tuesday, the 11th, at 7:30pm at Littlefield in Brooklyn (steps from the R train, which is still a little wonky; plan ahead). Tickets are a scandalously cheap $8 if you snag them in advance at littlefieldnyc.com: World class entertainment for the price of sandwich at a not very impressive restaurant. Let it be your holiday gift to yourself.
