Word from our fabulous Los Angeles quizmaster, the mighty Daniel Halden…
Despite the growing national weariness over the never-ending 2012 presidential campaign, a host of terrific teams took part in a politically themed battle on Sunday night at BQT L.A. Coming in first place for the second month in a row was Team Quizzie Tissue, which aced the earlier political questions but ending up winning the night on a finale question about Depeche Mode (yes, it used to be the title of a fashion magazine). Second place finisher, with one of the all-time great BQT team names, was Team Kimmy and the Gibblers, thanks to their "full house" of trivia-minded contestants. In third place were newcomers Team at Least It Wasn't Elizabeth McGovern, who won two free admission passes to next time and may have set a record during the first five rounds with 80 total points scored. An impressive showing, to say the least -- although proof that, even at the Big Quiz
Thing, there's always the chance of a popular vote/electoral vote split.
Thank you, Dan. I'm proud to admit I understand the reference in the Kimmy and the Gibblers team name, but confess I have no idea what they're talking about with Elizabeth McGovern.
And thanks to our prize sponsors for the evening: the legendary Laugh Factory, the LaLas Burlesque, and of course, our supreme venue, Busby's East. We're back with our final L.A. BQT of '12 on November 18—make it real.

The Elizabeth McGovern team was an homage to the recently departed George McGovern.
