Recap: We come to the end

The last Big Quiz Thing of 2011—how wistful! 2011 was an excellent, excellent year for the BQT: We established a monthly residency in Boston, we premiered in L.A., we expanded the private-party business, we played for hundreds at Comic-Con. Now I'm tired.

But tonight was a fitting send-off to the year, filling Le Poisson Rouge with oodles of quizzy goodness. "The Year in Manipulative Movie Trailers"—a full 44% of the teams posted a perfect score on that one (nice job not mixing up No Strings Attached with Friends with Benefits). You also scored impressively on the visual four-parter, "Xmas Song Rebuses." That one up top was fun to put together.

As for the audio round, this one took me a looong time to assemble. "The Palindrome Audio Round Audio Palindrome The"—the titles of the songs, in order, formed one big word palindrome. Like the bridge in this song (which, yes, was clip No. 5):

Only three teams aced it, one being (spoiler alert!) eventual winners the Fantastic Fournicators, who told me they guessed the entire second half of the round halfway through. Very figureoutable!

Not a lot of Smart-Ass Points tonight, though the best-received was probably during the "Sex Change" four-parter, in which I asked you to give me the alternate-gender version of "jack—as in a donkey." The answer was "Sarah Jessica Parker." I never said we were mature.

And then, the finale. Damn you, buzzer shenanigans, but when the dust settled, the Fournicators—probably still the winningest team in BQT history, but I don't really keep track—came out on top.
