This has gotten a fair amount of Internet play, so I feel the need to chime in: Yesterday, ace local blog The Awl (the fine publication that blew the lid off the Quizmaster Noah–Steven Slater "scandal") published this nifty story: The Seven Annoying Friends You Meet at Trivia Night.
Hm. From my rarefied perch onstage, I must admit, I'm not intimately aware of the inner workings of BQT teams, but this sounds about accurate, even if this is more about bar trivia than a show like the Big Quiz Thing. Besides, I've attended more than a couple of pub quizzes myself, and I found myself nodding as I read it. It doesn't describe any of you, of course, just the random jerk-off who crashed your squad that one time. Of course.
But seriously, what do you think? True dat? Libelous? Should we convince this Julie Leung to come to Bowlmor on Monday so we can praise her for shining a light on our little subcultural corner? Or should we drag her onto the stage and throw balled-up answer sheets at her? Discuss.
