More Movieoke!

You are big. It's the pictures that have gotten small: Saturday night, you once again have the chance to be a movie star, as I'm once again hosting Movieoke at the glorious 92YTribeca, once again with trivia, once again with prizes, once again at 10:30pm. You bring a DVD with your favorite scene, when it's your turn we'll put on the scene, turn off the sound, slap on the subtitles and hand you the microphone, and you bring it to glorious cinematic life. Before your performance, I'll engage you in a little movie trivia quiz. A splendid time was had by all last month, and 92YTribeca is keen on making it a regular event, so get in now before it's overrun by unself-conscious hipsters. Arrive at 10:15 to sign up, with DVD in hand (though we'll have a small selection to choose from as well), or buy advance tickets here. My own scene this time? It'll be a surprise, but I'll say this: I'm teaming up with BQT door girl Sherry Smith, and it's from a Tarantino film. Yeah, we hardcore.

And of course, Sunday is the Oscars; I might be live-tweeting it, along with the rest of the world. Look to your right for a link to my free collection of Oscars trivia, or if you want something a little swankier than sitting on your couch, friend of the BQT Kevin Maher (of Kevin Geeks Out fame) is hosting a classier-than-classy viewing party at the Paley Center Sunday night; I think some tickets are still available. Kevin always runs a hell of an event, and Paley is an excellent venue for culture nerds like you and me, so it's exceedingly difficult to go wrong here. May all your carpets be red.

UPDATE: We'll have a nice little stash of DVDs at Movieoke that people can access: The Wizard of Oz, the 1966 Batman, Red Dawn (Sway-zeee!), Animal House, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, A.I., Die Hard, and probably some more. So slackers are welcome.
